FANCD2 and cancer: We recently reported that the FA core complex and its target FANCD2, which loss-of-function is associated with the hematopoietic, developmental and cancer predisposition disease Fanconi anemia (FA)20,21, protects metastatic melanoma cell lines bearing the BRAFV600E mutation and overexpressing MiTF from entering senescence, sustaining melanoma proliferation in vitro and in vivo22.
