GATAD2A and major depressive disorder: Five SNPs among the twelve validated regions are mapped to genes that are known to be associated with schizophrenia and other mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder, eating disorder, adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, psychosis, recurrent major depressive disorder.21–26 A cluster of six SNPs on chromosome 19 are found to be in high LD with rs2905426, which is mapped to the regulatory region of GATAD2A and MAU2, genes that are known to be associated with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.7
