Children with Hb SS [aOR = 5.04, 95% CI (2.47–10.3); p<0.0001] and Hb SC [aOR = 3.14 95% CI (1.39–7.01); p = 0.0174] were at increased odds of developing CKD after adjusting for age, BMI and gender. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and chronic kidney disease.
