However, concluding from the missing inverse correlation of miR-143-3p and CD44s expression in healthy and malignant skin tissues as well as in the investigated melanoma cell lines (data not shown), miR-143-3p is able to inhibit CD44 translation and function upon overexpression, but does not seem to be the key regulating miR in the in vivo cellular situation.
