TGFB1 and cancer: Functional annotation of the159 genes that were continuously repressed in response to SB431542, and therefore were stimulated by autocrine TGF-β signaling, revealed TGF-β pathway signaling (as expected), transcriptional misregulation in cancer, and FoxO and Ras signaling, while gene ontology terms linked to blood vessel development, negative regulation of RNA, gene expression, cellular metabolic processes and cell cycle (Fig. 2F, Supplemental Table 7).
