TPM3 and colorectal carcinoma: Following the identification of TPM3-NTRK1 as an oncogenic driver in CRC in 1986 [42], the third most common form of cancer, nothing further was reported about this gene fusion until almost 30 years later when Ardini et al. characterised the TPM3-NTRK1 rearrangement at the genomic level for the first time, finding that the observed breakpoint within exon 8 of NTRK1 in CRC differed from those previously identified for the TPM3-NTRK1 gene fusion in PTC.
