Following the discovery of this TPM3-NTRK1 gene fusion, the identification of other NTRK gene fusions in CRC [43–45] triggered the interest of clinicians in the possible existence of oncogenic gene fusions in other types of cancers; to date, over 80 different fusion partner genes have been identified in a wide array of tumours (Figure 4). This evidence concerns the gene TPM3 and colorectal carcinoma.
