Proteomic analysis revealed that HSPB1 is among several proteins upregulated in human epidermis (Boxman et al. 2002b; Chen et al. 2014), or primary foreskin keratinocytes (Zhang et al. 2011) exposed to sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), a surfactant widely used for inducing the experimental contact dermatitis. The gene discussed is HSPB1; the disease is contact dermatitis.
