In MALAT1 siRNA group, the ratio of cleaved caspase-3 to truncated caspase-3 and the level of pro-apoptotic Bcl2 associated X protein (Bax) were obviously increased (p < 0.05 vs. untreated control), while the level of anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) was significantly decreased (p < 0.05 vs. untreated control; Figure 3), indicating that the knockout of MALAT1 promotes apoptosis in colon cancer cells.
