TMEM16A expression is controlled by pro-inflammatory stimuli, namely, by the Th 2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 (Huang et al, 2012; Scudieri et al, 2012; Lin et al, 2015; Kang et al, 2017) and is shown to be induced by asthma-like conditions, that is, in ovalbumin-challenged mice (Benedetto et al, 2019; Huang et al, 2012) , in pig airway tissues treated with histamine (Kang et al, 2017) and in biopsies from asthmatic patients (Huang et al, 2012). The gene discussed is IL4; the disease is asthma.
