NFATC1 and prostate cancer: This may not be a general feature of prostate cancer cells, since in another hormone-insensitive cell line, DU-145, NFAT activity could be enhanced by the calcium ionophore ionomycin and inhibited by the calcineurin inhibitor cyclosporin A. Yet in both cell lines, the transcriptional as well as pro-migratory activities of NFATC1 were similarly compromised by mutations in the PIM target sites.
