Previous reports have demonstrated that the miR-106b-25 cluster (miR-106b, miR-93, and miR-25), which is activated by E2F1, can inhibit the growth-suppressing functions of TGF-β signalling by interfering with the downstream mediators p21 (CDKN1A, Waf1/Cip1) and Bim (BCL2L11) in gastric cancer [53].
