More importantly, Medyouf et al. found that MDS tumor cells and the MDS cell line MDS-L can “reprogram” normal MSCs to obtain MDS-MSC-like characteristics, such as high leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) expression levels, suggesting that MDS-MSC senescence may be related to MDS clonal cells [2]. The gene discussed is LIF; the disease is myelodysplastic syndrome.
