AK2 and reticular dysgenesis: Notably, altered transcriptional profiles have been previously observed in two different in vitro models of RD (Oshima et al., 2018; Six et al., 2015) and, more importantly, it has been shown in vitro and in zebrafish that a general reduction of ATP production decreases canonical Wnt/β-catenin signaling, which could result in the observed defects to the IC NMs in ak2-deficient embryos (Costa et al., 2019).
