In terms of hormone receptor status, the decreased risk of death associated with ever-drinking was observed among patients with receptor-negative cancer but not among those with receptor-positive cancer (all-cause death among ER-/PR- patients, HR for ever-drinking = 0.49, 95% CI: 0.26–0.94, p = 0.03; breast cancer-specific death among ER-/PR- patients, HR = 0.41, 95% CI: 0.20–0.84, p = 0.01 in comparison to never-drinking). Here, ESR1 is linked to breast cancer.
