Among them, the complement factor H (CFH) gene and the ARMS2/HTRA1 locus were the most strongly associated with AMD [16, 17, 23, 24] and PCV [25] in different populations, although SNPs at the ARMS2/HTRA1 locus had stronger effect sizes in neovascular AMD than in PCV [25]. This evidence concerns the gene HTRA1 and age-related macular degeneration.
