Two adjacent intronic allele substitutions (at positions 2,605,335 and 2,605,336, respectively; both were novel mutations) occurred in CACNA1C. This gene encodes a subunit of voltage-dependent calcium channel, and plays important roles in a wide range of biological functions, e.g. muscle contraction, hormone or neurotransmitter release, gene expression, cell motility, cell division and cell death, and might be attributed with cardiovascular diseases. The gene discussed is CACNA1C; the disease is cardiovascular disorder.
