By in vitro and preclinical studies, Danilo C. et al. have shown that cholesteryl ester via its cellular receptor (scavenger receptor class B type I, SR-BI) increase breast cancer cell proliferation through the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) pathway but not through the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK)/ERK1/2 pathway [40]. Here, MAPK3 is linked to breast cancer.
