Four extracellular matrix proteins, collagen IV, laminin [187], tenascin C, and fibronectin [188,189], as well as matrix metalloproteinase 2 (the enzyme degrading the extracellular matrix) [189], were immunohistochemically found in extracellular spaces of cutaneous melanomas, suggesting their production by the MeLiM melanoma cells. This evidence concerns the gene TNC and melanoma.
