It is well-known that somatic hotspot mutations are located in codons 12 and 13 (exon 2), codons 59 and 61 (exon 3), and codons 117 and 146 (exon 4) of KRAS and NRAS genes, and in codon 600 (exon 15) in BRAF. In colorectal cancers, KRAS mutations are observed in 42% of cases, while mutations in NRAS (10%) and BRAF (10%) are less frequent [9, 10]. Here, NRAS is linked to colorectal cancer.
