Findings of our study showed that all eight (80%) of 10 patients who survived ≤ 90 days had at least 4 of 5 abnormal factors (AST, ALB, TB, PT and platelet count), which were consistent with the results of Kalva et al. AST and ALT are abundant enzymes in hepatocytes: AST is found in both cytosol and mitochondria, but ALT only in cytosol [22]. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is tuberculosis.
