Several proteins were present in more than one spot, namely: heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (hnRNP K; spot 12 and 13, both more abundant upon infection), mitochondrial 60 kDa heat shock protein (hsp60; spot 15 and 16, both less abundant in cells affected by persistent virus), and keratin, type II cytoskeletal 8 (CK-8; spot 19 and 20, which showed opposite changes). The gene discussed is HNRNPK; the disease is infection.
