Two large cardiovascular outcomes trials have compared the effect of a fully human PCSK9 inhibitor with placebo on the risk of stroke in patients with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and elevated atherogenic lipoproteins despite background statin treatment.10,11 In both trials, treatment with the PCSK9 inhibitor lowered LDL-C by more than 50% below the statin-treated baseline. This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and Stroke.
