Serum albumin was significantly lower in cases with AA amyloidosis (18 vs. 23.5 g/L, p = 0.03) and median serum creatinine as well as magnitude of proteinuria was higher in AA compared to AL amyloidosis (serum creatinine 276 vs. 88 μmol/L, proteinuria 9.7 vs. 6.12 g/24 h) but failed to attain statistical significance. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is AL amyloidosis.
