Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease characterized by production of autoantibodies [rheumatoid factor (RF) and anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA)] and joint damage due to persistent synovial inflammation and invasion into adjacent articular structures, leading to irreversible cartilage damage and bone destruction (Smolen et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene PRTN3 and rheumatoid arthritis.
