In the non-classical CD14+CD16++ subset, the percentage of monocytes expressing CCR2 was significantly higher in the patients with mild (24 ± 3; p < 0.0001), moderate (16 ± 2.5; p = 0.009) and severe (18 ± 2.7; p = 0.002) asthma compared to healthy (9%) controls (Fig. 4a). The gene discussed is CCR2; the disease is asthma.
