Our group previously reported that in the Japanese population, cold medicine-related SJS/TEN (CM-SJS/TEN) with severe ocular complications (SOCs) is strongly associated with HLA-A*02:06 (cases, n = 151; controls, n = 639; p = 2.7 × 10−20; odds ratio [OR] = 5.6) and HLA-B*44:03 (cases, n = 151; controls, n = 639; p = 1.3 × 10−3; OR = 2.0)13. The gene discussed is HLA-B; the disease is Schwartz-Jampel syndrome.
