Cancer susceptibility conferred by this TP53 noncoding variant8,12–15 does not strictly mirror that of TP53 germline coding mutations in LFS patients3,16 (Supplementary Table 1): individuals with the minor allele are at increased risk of brain tumors8 (particularly glioma8,12–14,17), neuroblastoma18, skin basal cell carcinoma (BCC)8, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC)19, prostate cancer, colorectal adenoma8, and uterine leiomyoma20. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
