Six of the genes falling within regions of reduced heterozygosity identified in this study (LRP8, ATP2B1, LAMC1, SOX9, MUC15, UBE2N) were also associated with resistance to H. contortus infection in a recent GWAS study using a backcross population of Red Maasai and Dorper sheep under natural infection conditions [38]. This evidence concerns the gene ATP2B1 and infection.
