Hence, we infected IHGE cells expressing Myc-mCherry–tagged HA-inserted JAM1 with S. gordonii or F. nucleatum. Upon infection with these species, the level of HA-inserted JAM1 was not reduced 2 h after infection (Fig 4D and 4E), suggesting that S. gordonii and F. nucleatum are not capable of degrading JAM1.
