The CXCL8 gene, which encodes IL-8, and its corresponding receptor gene, CXCR2, are interesting targets of BART lncRNA because IL-8 is regulated by LMP1, functions as a chemotactic factor, and has been reported to promote metastasis of NPC by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition and downregulating E-cadherin through activation of Akt signaling (27, 28). This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
