AGT and hypertensive disorder: The RAAS plays an important role in the development and maintenance of high blood pressure associated with obesity.26,45 Multiple reports indicate that the levels of active renin and angiotensin II are higher in the plasma of obese individuals, possibly because of higher SNS activity in the kidney.47,48 hypertension.49, Figure 1 depicts the multiple mechanisms that can activate the RAAS in obesity-induced hypertension.
