The miR-548p’s anti-oncogenic activity was observed in two different studies in breast cancer; in the study of Shi et al (2015) its up-regulation was found to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis by targeting Enoyl Coenzyme A Hydratase short chain 1 (ECHS1) [88] and in the study of Ke et al (2016), it was found to perform the same functions by targeting the Nuclear Paraspeckle Assembly Transcript (NEAT) gene [89].
