Nonetheless, the consistent pattern of association observed between this KTB analysis of normal breast TDLUs and our prior CTS analysis of breast cancer incidence rates strongly suggests that a history of HDP in concert with inheritance of a functionally blunted IGF1R rs2016347 variant manifests as both enhanced mammary gland involution and reduced later-life breast cancer risk, both outcomes impacted by decades of significantly reduced mammary gland IGF axis stimulation.
