In particular, before any eventual therapeutic relevance, it is required to overcome two important limitations of this study: (i) while supported by in vitro observations, the role of COL3A1 in cancer cell spreading should be extended on animal models of cholangiocarcinoma [46]; (ii) type III collagen alignment should be integrated and interpreted in a larger cohort of iCCA patients at different stages of the disease. This evidence concerns the gene COL3A1 and cancer.
