Several recent studies reported NfL as a promising marker in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease (HD) [16], Alzheimer’s disease [17], amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [18], multiple sclerosis [19], and frontotemporal dementia [20], and peripheral nerve disorders, such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease [21]. This evidence concerns the gene NEFL and neurodegenerative disease.
