While no pathogenic mutations or epigenetic changes in the encoded genes of the two crucial DROSHA and DICER1 enzymes involved in miRNA regulation have been identified in breast tumors, there has been one polymorphism in each of the DGCR8 and DROSHA genes established in a group of Chinese and African women, and these were significantly associated with BC risk [69,70]. The gene discussed is DICER1; the disease is breast cancer.
