Interestingly, when IKK/NF-κB signalling was inhibited in β-cells, IKK2-DNPdx1 mice developed clear clinical signs of diabetes including polyuria, polydipsia and loss of body weight, detectable already at the age of 5 weeks (Fig. 2A, B, C and Supplementary Fig. 2A). This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and diabetes mellitus.
