The increase in E-Cadherin expression at the cell membrane is accompanied by a reversion of the so-called “cadherin switch” (that is, increase of the mesenchymal marker N-cadherin and a concomitant decrease of the epithelial marker E-cadherin), which is a canonical hallmark of EMT in cancer (Hanahan and Weinberg, 2011; Lamouille et al., 2014; Bill and Christofori, 2015), further confirmed by the concomitant decrease in EMT markers (Grasso et al., 2017). Here, CDH2 is linked to cancer.
