These results complement the findings reported by Faubert et al., who showed that some biopsies from NSCLC can use lactate by increasing the expression of MCT1, MCT4, LDHA, and LDHB, but due to the heterogeneity in human NSCLC cells, there are NSCLC tumors that neither introduce lactate nor express MCT1, MCT4, LDHA, and LDHB (5). The gene discussed is LDHA; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
