Larsen et al. (165) found that ZEB1-induced EMT was crucial for the development of NSCLC but required premalignant oncogenic mutations such those for KRAS. Moreover, they found that ZEB1-driven EMT was a crucial early event in the progression of human bronchial epithelial cells to malignancy (165). The gene discussed is ZEB1; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
