SINE elements were also shown to cause several inherited diseases, like recessive centronuclear myopathy in Labrador Retrievers (Tiret et al., 2005) and early canine retinal degeneration, which was linked to the serine/threonine kinase 38 like (STK38L) gene in Norwegian Elkhound–Beagle outcrosses by linkage mapping (Goldstein et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene STK38L and autosomal dominant centronuclear myopathy.
