It is worth noting that ISLR2 and SOCS2 are critically involved in regulating typical axon guidance (Mandai et al., 2009; Mandai et al., 2014) and neuronal differentiation during neural development (Turnley et al., 2002), processes recently shown to be disturbed in the neocortex of children with autism (Stoner et al., 2014). Here, ISLR2 is linked to autism.
