The neuron-specific intercellular adhesion molecule 5 (ICAM5), a member of the ICAM family of adhesion proteins (Gahmberg et al., 2014), was identified as one of the FMRP targets (Darnell et al., 2011), but subsequent biological analyses of molecular pathways linked between FXS and FMRP targets are lacking. The gene discussed is FMR1; the disease is fragile X syndrome.
