PLD2 and benign prostatic hyperplasia: This suggests that in BPH some PLD2 locates to the plasma membrane perhaps through interaction with the EGF receptor,26 which shows increased expression in BPH.77 A similar effect might be expected to occur in PCa tissue where the EGF receptor is overexpressed and correlates with disease progression.78,79 Such a translocation is observed in renal cancer cells, which show increased PLD2 staining at the plasma membrane compared with normal cells.4 Interestingly, the EGF receptor is transported from the nucleus to the plasma membrane in PtdOH-recycling vesicles.71
