The results indicate that (1), unlike PLD1 expression luminal and basal PCa cells express PLD2 protein about equally, (2), PLD2 regulates PCa cell proliferation and colony formation, (3), PLD2 is involved in directed cell migration in PCa cells, (4), PLD2 protein expression increases with PCa Gleason scores from 6 to 8, (5), in BPH tissue stromal cells as well as basal and luminal cells show upregulated PLD2 expression and (6) intriguingly, PLD2 protein is co-expressed with chromogranin A (a neuroendocrine marker) in CRPC tissue. Here, PLD1 is linked to benign prostatic hyperplasia.
