A recent report shows that the EWS‐FLI1 transcription causes R‐loops and blocks BRCA1 repair in Ewing sarcoma, perhaps explaining the observed increased risk of breast cancer.32 Our study identified excess breast cancer risk in Ewing sarcoma patients (Table 1) and in their second‐degree relatives (Table 2), further supporting the hypothesis of an associated inherited risk for breast cancer. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and breast carcinoma.
