Previously, we have reported that treatment with malignant ascites from high grade serous ovarian cancer patients induced apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells [4] and that this occurs through a JNK signaling pathway followed by increased levels of Fas, FasL and increased cytoplasmic localization of Daxx, suggesting the importance of the Fas/FasL pathway in ascites-induced apoptosis. The gene discussed is FASLG; the disease is ovarian carcinoma.
