CYP26B1 and schizophrenia: These include genes with corresponding genomic evidence, including downregulation of CYP26B1 and RAI1 and upregulation of RERE. Thus, further support is provided to a perturbation of regulatory processes influencing retinoids in schizophrenia as at-RA catabolism may be decreased via impaired CYP26B1, with a potential influence on the rate of at-RA signalling by RERE. Downregulation of ALDH1A1 was also replicated in this study along with decreased transcription of RDH11, suggesting a disruption to at-RA synthesis itself.
