GSTP1 and prostate carcinoma: The fact that we did not find an association with prostate cancer detection for the other analyzed genes, with the possible exception of C1orf114, suggests that the association between GSTP1 methylation and prostate cancer is not a consequence of a general alteration of the DNA methylome; nevertheless, we found a non-negligible positive correlation between genes in the same biopsy, which is consistent with the concept that the methylation pattern is a local characteristic of the prostate tissue.
