In regard to the non-selective COX-2 inhibitors, aspirin, having relatively fewer side effects, has been investigated independently or in adjunction to AED therapy for controlling seizures in epilepsy and related syndromes (Table 3) to substantiate the findings of preclinical studies reporting efficient seizure reduction upon administration of COX-2 inhibitors (Table 2). This evidence concerns the gene PTGS2 and epilepsy.
