CD4 and tuberculosis: Compared to participants on first-line ART, those receiving second-line ART were older (median [IRQ] age 36 [30–42] vs 40 [34–45] years), more likely to be male (50% vs 65%), less like to live in an urban setting (71% vs 62%), more likely to have had TB in the past (1% vs 3%) and had higher CD4+ cell counts (median [IQR] CD4+ 184 [97–265] vs 313 [182–506] cells/mm3) at their respective ART initiation (p < 0.001 for all comparisons) (Table 1).
